The greatest news of the north 2002
Eve of the Second Sunday of Easter was sort of busy up here in Pond Inlet. The family of Leo and Maina Maktar came to decorate the church. The occasion was their 25th Marriage Anniversary. Some were decorating inside of the church and some were preparing a little snack for the reception.
Leo and Maina's family is one of the very few, that experienced the traditional way of life with their children today, living out on the land for several years. They share the good moments of that life and yet some of that difficulties in every day life out there. They moved back to the community of Pond Inlet just few years ago. They were lacy to get the job and support their family.
Today Leo and Maina are celebrating their 25th Anniversary of their marriad life. After the communion they had renewed Marriage vows and then gathering all of their children marriad already and the younger ones to give them parental blessing for the years of good time and of the bad times. We asked God to bless them and guide them, keep them faithful to one another and to God himself.
